Least Concern

The Broad-Billed Sandpiper (Calidris falcinellus)
This species is a small wader, slightly larger than a red-necked stint but smaller than a curlew sandpiper
Identification: Key features include a relatively long, black bill with a distinctly decurved (downward-kinked) tip, short legs, and a bold, split supercilium (eyebrow stripes). In breeding plumage, it has dark brown upperparts with pale fringes and a streaked breast.

Seberang Prai: Found all over the coastal mudflats but in small numbers but ocassionally in bigger flocks of tens or even hundreds especically at the Teluk Air Tawar – Kuala Muda Coast IBA. With a little bit of practice you will be able to pick it up from a flock of waders. Although at times it can be found foraging alone on the mudflats.
