Least Concern

The Common Greenshank is a medium, grey-brown wader known for its greenish legs, slightly upturned bill, and distinctive white V-shape up its back in flight, often found in wetlands across Asia, Africa, and Australia during the winter of the temperate north.
It has long and distinctly greenish or yellowish-green, giving it its name with a blackish tip bill, dull grey-green base, slightly upturn bill. The call is a “tew tew tew” sound, especially when flushed.

It is very common all over West Malaysia, but not in large numbers, sometimes in their own species flocks of tens, keeping to themselves among other species of waders and shorebirds. About a couple of thousand of them are probably wintering at Sbg Perai each migratory season.
