Least Concern

It is a small vibrant bird famous for its stunning iridescent blues, greens, and a brilliant copper-red throat patch on males, found in Southeast Asian mangrove forests and coastal areas, feeding on nectar and insects, known for its energetic flights and high-pitched calls. The females are much plainer, olive-brown above, yellowish below, with a pale throat and faint eye-line.

It is a “mangrove specilaist” totally dependent and found in coastal mangrove habitat only and is fairly common but sparse throughout such habitat in West Malaysia and Seberang Perai.
