The Cotton Pygmy Goose is a small both a resident and migratory waterfowl found in Malaysian freshwater wetlands with floating vegetation that do not completley covered the surface, especially those previous tin mining and also sand mining that are found in Perak. They are small, strong fliers often seen in pairs or small groups.

Males have a bright white head and neck with a dark crown, while females are plainer with a dark eye-line.They are identified by their white, green, and brown plumage.

It is uncommon in Seberang Perai recorded in all districts, and probably very rare on the Island.
