Least Concern

An “earless” owl from Southeast Asia, characterized by its striking orange facial disc, large dark eyes, and brown plumage with white spotting and barring, often found in open forests and sometimes seen conspicuously perched, known for its loud, duetting calls
Prefers open forests, mangroves, and sometimes parks, often perching conspicuously.
A loud, resonant hoots, often in duets between pairs, and distinctive calls at dawn/dusk.

Fairly common throughout Seberang Perai, found in all district, in all habitats, inlcuding mangroves, freshwater swamps, oil palm estate and mangroves. Sometimes seen in sub-urban area also.
