The Sunda Pygmy Woodpecker is a tiny, common brown woodpecker common throughout Southeast Asia, known for its white-striped head, spotted back, buffy chest, found in mangroves, forests, parks, often heard as a high-pitched rattle. Males have a small red spot on the back of the crown. A near mangrove specialist in West Malaysia but defintely not rare further inland.

In Seberang Perai it can be found all over the district. including suburban areas, and housing estate near mangroves and secondary forest.
