The Asian palm civet, also known as the toddy cat or musang, is a slightly larrger than a domestic cat mainly nocturnal mammal native to South and Southeast Asia. The civet has a long body, short legs, a pointed snout, and dark grey or black fur with a distinctive black “mask” band across its eyes.
They are good climbers but will also travel and forage for food and prey at ground level. They are secretive and rest or nest in tree holes, between rocks and .They can be seen during dusk or dawn walking along their usual daily trail, like clockwork.
Usually 2-4 off spring are produced, following their mother until they are weaned and able to fend for themselves. They are omivorous but prefer fruits and berries.
It is very common throughout Seberang Perai in all type of habitat, and not that all rare even in suburban area where they may stay in the acttic of houses.
