Least Concern

The blackfin scad is a species of tropical marine fish belonging to the jack family, Carangidae.
The fish has a silvery-blue upper body and silvery-white underside, with a distinctive prominent black spot on its opercule and black membranes on its first dorsal fin. It grows to a maximum length of about 25 cm.
It inhabits inshore coastal waters throughout the Indo-Pacific region, often forming large schools. It is a predator that feeds primarily on small invertebrates such as planktonic crustaceans, shrimps, and copepods.

Fairly common throughout Seberang Perai coastal waters and fish market.

A minor food fish, at “economic” food stall or warong, usually sold fried or steamed with fermented beans and ginger in Chinese cooking
