Least Concern

The Malayan (or Malaysian) Butterfly Lizard is a unique, all-female (parthenogenetic) lizard species found in northern Peninsular Malaysia and Southern Thailand, known for its striking flank patterns resembling butterfly wings, inhabiting sandy, open areas like disturbed farmlands and coastlines, and using burrows for refuge. This shy lizard reproduces asexually (cloning) and is closely related to the more widespread Common Butterfly Lizard (Leiolepis belliana), often found basking or darting into sandy burrows when approached.

It is fairly common at dryer loamy / sandy area in Seberang Perai, especially orchards and any open areas including those along Mengkuang Dam.
