The Lunartail Pufferfish is a species of highly venomous marine fish found in the Indo-Pacific region. It is notable for its deadly tetrodotoxin (TTX) and its characteristic crescent-shaped (lunar) tail.
It inhabits coastal marine waters with sandy bottoms, as well as estuaries and mangrove areas. It has a plump appearance and can reach a maximum length of 45 centimeters.
The lunartail pufferfish is considered highly toxic. It contains tetrodotoxin (TTX), a potent neurotoxin concentrated mostly in its internal organs (viscera) and skin.
