It is extremely common throughout Seberang Perai, with a large nesting colony of up to hundreds at Teluk Air Tawar – Kuala Muda coastal IBA,
with count of up to one thousand. It is most likely a natural colonization from the north, first recorded at Seberag Perai about 10 years ago.
