Least Concern

A fairly big plover, plovers are typify by fairly round chunky body with short relatively thick pointed bill and large eyes.
It is a common but not abundant winter visitor except to Teluk Air Tawar – Kuala Muda IBA and North Central Selangor Coast IBA often seen on coastal mudflats and beaches It has black bill/legs, and a distinctive black patch under its wing (in flight), contrasting with its grey/white winter plumage or striking black-and-white breeding plumage which is not so commonly seen here in West Malaysia.
