Least Concern

The Chestnut-headed Bee-eater is a vibrant, insect-eating bird known for its striking chestnut crown, green body, and bright yellow throat, with no tail streamer unlike the other open country Bee-eaters species of West Malaysia, often seen in open woodlands and forest edges across South and Southeast Asia. These sociable birds hunt dragonflies, bees, wasps, and other flying insects, catching them mid-air from exposed perches and nesting in communal burrows in preferably sandy banks or sandy ground instead of hard laterite.

It is a common resident of northern region of West Malaysia, down as far south as Perak. In Seberang Perai its is fairly common through the district. Although considered as a resident it may take seasonal dispersal to other areas within its range.
