The Black-faced Spoonbill is a fairly large waterbird, with a white body, long legs/neck, distinctive black spoon-shaped bill, black facial skin. It breeds in north east asia, and winters south to Taiwan, South China, including Hong Kong, and the until Veitnam and Thailand, and rarely both West and East Malaysia.

It is considered as a vagrant to Teluk Air Tawar – Kuala Muda, and other mangrove areas along the west coast of the Malay Peninsular.
