A relatively large, agile Asian from India to South East Asia, bird of prey known for its variable pale/white or dark/black forms or morphs, with long wings, and a crested head not esaily or usually seen. It is often seen in forests, mangroves, orchards, plantations, wood lands, but less likey at a pure urban habitat.
The Changeable Hawk-Eagle is an opportunistic, ambush predator that uses stealth from concealed perches in trees, often within forest canopies, patiently scanning for prey before launching swift, powerful dives to snatch birds, mammals (like squirrels, monkeys), and reptiles. They are agile, weaving through woodlands or plantations to surprise prey on the ground relying on keen eyesight and camouflage for success. Less likely to hunt in a completely closed dense forest.
It is common all over Seberang Perai, can be found nesting at taller mangrove trees at Seberang Perai Tengah and Selatan but less so at Seberang Perai Utara due to the absence of mature tall mangrove trees there in the north, where they habe been known to nest at “ketapang” trees over freshwater swamp and riverine area.
