Least Concern

The Pink-necked Green Pigeon is a vibrant Southeast Asian bird, known for the male’s namesake pink neck, green body, and striking black & yellow wing patches, while the female is plainer green. Common throughout, especially orchards, secondary forest, forest edge, mangroves, plantations, paddyfields with hedges, sub-urban areas with fruiting or wild fig trees.

Males have a powder-pink neck, orange breast, gray-blue head; females are duller green; both have bright yellow-green undersides and black/yellow. Have a unique cooing sound if learned, you will this pigeon very common all over Seberang Perai. Flocks of up to one-hundred is not uncommon, although usually in tens.

Used to be hunted, because of its smaller size compared to the “Imperial Pigeons” it is not as sort after by hunters. Permit and permission required for hunting.
