Least Concern

The Long-tailed Shrike is a fairly common resident throughout West Malaysia, preferring undisturbed open fields, example open security space surrounding airports, military bases, paddyfields, sugarcane plantation, scrubland and grazing land.

It is an uncommon resident of Seberang Perai, with very few records in Sbg Perai Utara, and more records at Sbg Tengah, but it is probably locally extinct at the later district because of large scale development there, Previously found on the Island but presumed to be locally extinct also.
