Least Concern

The giant mudskipper is a unique, amphibious fish that is well-adapted to living both in and out of water in the tropical intertidal zones and mangrove forests of the Indian, South East Asian and Western Pacific Oceans.
It can breathe air through its skin and the lining of its mouth and throat, as long as they remain moist. It seals its gill chambers to hold in moisture.
It uses its strong, muscular pectoral fins like crutches to “walk” or “skip” across the mudflats and can use its tail for powerful jumps.
It is a carnivorous predator, feeding on invertebrates like small crabs, prawns, worms, and even smaller fish.
It is one of the largest mudskippers, with females growing up to 28.5 cm (11.2 in) in total length.

Very common all over coastal Seberang Perai and west Coast of the Island

Malaysia do not have a culture of consuming them unlike some East Asian countries like Taiwan and even Japan. They are sometimes caught to be used as bait fish.
