The Pacific Golden Plover, is a small-medium sized, long-legged shorebird known for its striking gold-and-black speckled breeding plumage and black face/belly. The non-breeding plumage is much duller, with a yellowish-brown (buff-apricot) wash on the breast and dark, muted speckling.

It is very common all over West Malaysia including Seberang Perai, they do favour fields, including grassland, airport apron of natural turf, and coastal mudflats. They occur in flocks of hundreds and even thousand, when flying between the coastal mudflats at high spring tide towards their inland roost or resting grounds.
